The Buffalo Bill Historical Center hosted its annual Cody High Style art exhibition last month.  Cody High Style participants include artists in western fashion, jewelry, and furniture.  One of the events most popular features is a fashion show that spotlights the latest in western couture.

This year, Kansas designer Meredith Lockhart received the award for Best Collection.  Lockhart’s label, Thistle’s West, focuses on couture pieces of western wear.  Her clientele includes A-list country stars and several Miss Rodeo America Pageant contestants, including Miss Rodeo America 2008, Amy Wilson.

The signature piece of Lockhart’s collection (pictured above) was a long sleeved, tailored silk shirt with handpainted yolks, cuffs, and collar.  The back featured a digitally printed photo of Buffalo Bill Cody.  The rest of the outfit included a white buckskin skirt with handcut fringe.  The skirt was accented with whip stitching, antiqued silver studs, Swarovski crystals, and hand painted barb wire and pewter buffalo.  Matching boots completed the look.
