Horsewomen are not strangers to the healing power of horses. Any cowgirl who’s ever had a bad day and taken off on a short ride knows riding can be every bit as therapeutic as ice cream or shopping.
But the staff at Maryland Therapeutic Riding have taken that healing power one step further to help America’s finest. MTR’s “Horses for Heroes” program helps wounded veterans returning from war overcome physical and emotional traumas.
The program, now in its fourth season, is completely free to wounded soldiers and is located in Annapolis, Maryland. “We are honored to offer Horses for Heroes to America’s bravest men and women who have been injured in combat,” says MTR Development Director Anne Joyner.
