Twenty-three-year-old Cody Stephens, a bull rider from Cherryville, Kan., passed away Saturday evening.
Stephens had been battling acute myeloid leukemia. Members of the rodeo community rallied around the young bull rider, organizing benefits and sending up prayers.
Before Stephens passed, he finally had the opportunity to meet World Champion Barrel Racer, Lindsay Sears. Sears recently learned of Stephens’ crush on her and flew in on Wednesday to be by his side. She stayed until Friday afternoon.
The Facebook group “Pray for Cody Stephens” has photos of the visit from Sears.
Funeral arrangements in Monett, MO are pending, according to a RodeoAttitude.com article.

Paul you and your family are in are prayers. We never met Cody but felt like he was a part of are family as much as you talked about him. God bless you all. Neil Parrigon and Family
