Bit Blanket

Show and rodeo season are fast approaching but for many northern cowgirls the weather remains less like spring and more like winter.  Cold weather riding offers many challenges to horsewomen, from piling on longjohns and coveralls, to cooling out sweaty horses, and warming up ice-cold bits.

Rider Jamie Sturgess is no stranger to riding in cold weather.  “Having grown up in New Hampshire and riding horses for most of my life, I always felt awful when I would have to stick that cold bit in my horse’s mouth in the winter,” Sturgess says.  After trying many ineffective bit-warming methods, she invented her own solution -  Bit Blanket.

The Bit Blanket wraps around the bit and electronically warms it to a comfotable temperature in a matter of minutes.  It can pug into any standard outlet and only uses 4 watts of energy so it’s also cost-effective.
